Steber makes impact at Shanghai Boat Show

The export potential of the China market was confirmed for Steber International with attendance at the 2015 CIBS (China International Boat Show) in Shanghai.

Managing Director, Alan Steber said Steber’s inaugural visit to CIBS resulted in a number of trade and direct client enquiries and several agency enquiries.

“As a first-time exhibitor at CHIBS I was most impressed”, Mr Steber said.

“The exhibition halls were enormous and the infrastructure to and from the expo was easy, quick and painless from the CBD.

“The earlier appointment of a Steber distributor (Mr Harry Wong of Vita Cruiser Pty Ltd) made the step forward a lot easier.

“Also the assistance and incentives from NSW Trade and Investment towards pre-boat show marketing, web page upgrades, brochures, banners and business cards proved very successful.

“Despite the GFC there are a lot of wealthy people in China. The potential is there for a good marine product, backed up by a solid 68 year reputation and service agreement, for many years to come.

“We displayed three scale model boats including the 43′ commercial, the new model 38′ cabriolet and the SSS Bluebottle.

“All of the Australian manufacturers worked under the AIMEX (Australian Industry Marine Export Group) banner and the “Australian Unlimited” branding which worked well in promoting Australian-made expertise”, Mr Steber said.

A highlight at the beginning of the show for all AIMEX exhibitors, was the announcement they had won the “Country Pavilion Award for Excellent Participation”. The award was presented to Mr Steber at a gala dinner awards evening on behalf of AIMEX.

“With nine Australian companies participating in one location under the Australia Unlimited banner we really stood out”, Mr Steber said.

“This year represented the 20th anniversary of CIBS (China International Boat Show) and a proud moment for the organisers declaring that the first boat show commenced in a large garage.

“Following the show Steber International travelled to Shantou and Xiamen on the south coast where they confirmed the agreement of a new Steber sub-distributor.

“Pleasing results all around for Steber International and the other Australian exhibitors”, Mr Steber concluded.
