During question time in the legislative council the Hon. Jennifer Gardiner asked the Hon. Duncan Gay to update the house on the boat building industry the response was a tribute to Steber.

In front of a record attendance at The Hunter Manufacturing Awards held in Newcastle at the Wests Leagues Club, Steber International was announced the overall Manufacturer of the Year.  During the night, Steber’s recieved The Award for Excellence in Design and was very proud and overwhelmed to be named the Overall Manufacturer of the Year. Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba NSW conducted the commissioning ceremony for their new Steber 38 rescue vessel on the 9 September. The vessel IY30 was proudly commissioned in the presence of volunteers and general public.  Chris Elford of Steber International was present during the ceremony.  Kay Cottee AO christened the vessel with the traditional pouring of champagne.
