Steber’s exporting electric hybrid technology to India

Australian marine manufacturer and clean technology innovator, Steber International has  signed a Memoramdum of Understanding (MoU) with West Coast Marine, India’s leading integrated marine enterprise, to commercialise electric-hybrid ferries.

NSW Premier, Chris Minns witnessed the signing of the MoU, which will see Steber’s technical assistance as a clean technology innovator utilised, to design and power the vessels.

Steber General Manager, Alan Steber said: “The Government of India is actively pursing sustainable mobility, inland waterways and multimodal transport under Maritime India Vision 2030, supporting the country’s transition towards lower emissions maritime transport”.

“The partnership between ourselves and West Coast Marine, based in Mumbai, aligns closely with broader NSW and India co-operation on renewable energy, clean technology and sustainable transport.

“It was facilitated through Australia’s national science agency CSIRO’S India Australia Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion (RISE) Accelerator, which connected the two companies last year”, he said

In a completely separate project, Steber International is working with the Federal Government’s Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) and the Fisheries Research Development Corporation (FRDC).

The aim of this collaboration is to selectively transition old commercial fishing vessels and/or replace same with new electric hybrid vessels and attracting renewed interest in retail sales with more environment friendly approach.

Ampcontrol have been behind the scenes, supporting Steber with their electronic and engineering skills.
